CBD Dosage and Brain Tumors

CBD, which is Cannabidiol, is a substance that has met a lot of resistance due to the lack of adequate research to prove it’s effectiveness for treating many different ailments. One of many chemical compounds found in the cannabis plant, CBD can be extracted and used in the form of an oil, capsule, tincture, edible, cream, salve, and a plethora of other versions. Brain tumors affect dozens of thousands of people each year, and it can be a very difficult diagnosis to deal with. If the tumor happens to be cancerous, then chemotherapy is a long and arduous process for the patient. There are also many side effects to the chemotherapy such as nausea, vomiting, and pain in general.

CBD has Anti Cancer Benefits

Thankfully, there are anti cancer benefits in CBD that allow patients, both children and adults, to achieve pain relief without the “high” feeling. CBD that has been tested and is regulated and certified is safe for consumption because it does not contain THC, which is the chemical in cannabis that is psychoactive. Not only can the proper dosage of CBD alleviate pain symptoms associated with brain tumors but it can also inhibit further growth of tumors and even has the potential to kill tumor cells.

What’s the right dosage of CBD for me?

There is not a general consensus on how much CBD should be given in order to treat a brain tumor, primarily because there isn’t a universal dosage for every individual. Health officials advise that those who use CBD for pain relief and anti cancer benefits should start low and gradually take higher doses as tolerance builds. There has been success with doses between 100mg to 300mg twice a day, but doses up to 1200mg CBD oil have been successful as well.

Very high doses of CBD can be tolerated and have offered much improvement for patients living with brain tumors. It can also extend their lives in certain cases where the tumor has responded to the CBD by shrinking in size. One case study in London has found that a 50 year old patient who was given the CBD oil (10mg, 10 drops twice a day, three days on and three days off) showed signs of stunted growth for their brain tumor after 6 months of usage. Once the CBD oil was removed, the tumor began to grow again.

The research and dosage amounts provided are for informational purposes only. They are a part of a small sample size but there are endless possibilities if the necessary funding is given to promote further research into CBD and varying dosages to treat brain tumors. Always check with a trusted provider when deciding on CBD consumption and the correct amount for your desired outcome.
